Pairing Wine and Chocolate , The Perfect Champagne and Chocolate

Discover Which Champagne and Wines

Pair Best With Chocolate

If you are considering having a wine party you may want to by pass putting out the same old wine, and cheese plates and give your guest a luxurious treat of sinful deserts. Cheese cakes, dried nuts,chocolate dipped fruits, chocolate dipped pretzels.

Pairing chocolate with wine is a little simpler than pairing champagne and chocolate. Many champagne enthusiasts are not overly keen on the idea of pairing the chocolate with a fine bottle of champagne as it quite literally can leave a bad taste in your mouth. Dry and chalky, bitter come to mind, but it is not true of all chocolates. Two of my favorite chocolate dishes served with a flutes of Veuve Clicquot Demi-Sec are white chocolate dipped strawberries, and pieces of chocolate with nuts either white or a darker chocolate.

The Set Up

Light candles and turn down the lights. Prepare chocolates, and deserts on pretty plates that will sparkle in the glow of the candle light. Choose music that will set the mood for the evening, and played on a soft volume , so that guests can speak easily. Light a fire place if you have one, but remember that wine and champagnes can make your guests warm up, so you don’t want the room too hot.

To fill the air with a natural aromatic that pairs well with chocolate, take oranges and using a potato peeler or a small paring knife, carve out a decorative pattern in a navel orange. In the peeled sections place whole cloves through out the sections where you peeled away the orange skin. Cut more oranges up into wedges and leave out for guest to enjoy as well.

Place wine glasses, flutes, wine, champagne, ports, and food in a manner that makes it easy for guest to flow, and mingle. Setting up in zones: Wines, champagnes, chocolates, nuts and fruits, and cheese as an example. You want your guests to circulate, and not converge in one area that makes it difficult to refill glasses, and sample your lovely selections of Delicious treats.

Set out the chocolates, or desserts and have the bottles of wine, ports,dessert wines, ready, and the champagne chilled, with glasses on hand standing by for a night of indulgence, and luxurious taste sensations.

There are some basics to indulging in both wine and chocolate.

  • First the wine or champagne you select for your pairing should always be as sweet as or sweeter than the chocolate. This is very important
  • * When you pick the wine to pair with chocolate it is essential to search for tastes in both the food and wine that are similar to each other

Pairing Semi Chocolates & Sweet & Chocolate Dark Chocolate (50-70% cacao)

The natural similarity between a rich dark chocolate and bold red wine is not a secret. You have been out at restaurants where you have been offered after dinner wines with a tray of decedent desserts. You can find many types of chocolate that contain fruits and nuts that will convey the fruity or piquant nuances in the chocolate, and this delectable blend can be highly addicting.

  • BORDEAUX

Bitter Sweet Chocolate 71-100% Cacao)

Bitter Sweet Chocolate (71-100% cacao) This dark chocolate acidic in nature with a roasted tang is so intense, that it necessitates a very robust wine to balance the taste.

* Muscats.
* Pinot Noir
* Red Wine
* Shiraz
* Spanish Grenache
* Vintage Ports
* Zinfandels

So, remember to take into consideration:

A bad match can cause your wine to appear to be parched and dusty, or create disagreeable flavors on the finish. Or your chocolate can take on a lackluster, curdled quality from the acidity or alcohol of the wine. This should not prevent you from experimenting, and discovering the scrumptious and seemingly endless wine and chocolate combination’s that are available.

There are so many different types of champagnes, and wines you will never run out of new bottles to share with family and friends.
